Hi. My name is Joe. I’ve got a wife and three kids, and I work in a button factory.
No, no. I kid. Really, my name is Joe: Dad to my two kids (not three, or at least not that I know of!), Big Joe Bass (aka BJBass) in musician form, and Joe Manning to the rest of the world. In a nutshell, I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, grew up all around Michigan and Wisconsin, have masters degrees from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Michigan, and currently live in Huntsville, Alabama.
During the day I’m an atmospheric physicist, designing smoke screen models for Gleason Research Associates, Inc. (who contract with the military), but at night BJBass emerges, and the music begins. I’ve gigged with several bands in Huntsville and the surrounding area and have played in a number of musicals. As the name suggests, I paly bass (both upright and electric). For more information on that, see the “music” section.
I like cats, Green Stuff (a great dessert with pistachio pudding, angel food cake, and Heath bars), and Mel Brooks movies.
