Welcome to BJBass.com

2009 has been an eventful year.

We lost the Jazz Factory weekly gig. The restaurant closed, and the owners have moved to Portland to open a restaurant there.

The Rocket City Jazz Orchestra played for a fundraising event in Birmingham in which Queen Latifah was the headliner. $600 would get you in at the Alys Stephens Center for the Viva Health Starlight Gala last April.

I played for ten performances of Footloose in April at Huntsville High School.

The big band played in Decatur’s park series, the Paul Stroud Concerts by the River at Rhodes Ferry Park, on Monday, May 18, for free. Free is better than $600, don’t you think?

I played for Urinetown again, this time at Renaissance Theater the last week of July. (I played for Randolph School’s production of Urinetown last fall). It’s a silly show that pokes some fun at other shows.

The big band had a bang-up show put together to close the Huntsville Concerts in the Park series. We set up, did our sound check, the first band played, and then we got cancelled because of incoming bad weather. Ya win some, ya lose some.

Still coming up are a couple of nice swing dances with the big band, including New Years Eve at the Flying Monkey.

Hope to see you!
